Traditional Hatha Yoga (Sivananda) and Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation)

Starts 21 April

Classes are taught in the Sivananda hatha yoga tradition with a concluding yoga nidra deep relaxation. You can expect to work physically hard in a moderate way. The session is open to all. You will be encouraged to listen to your body to know how far you can go on the day. The session includes savasana (lying down) between postures, and focus on the breath. You get most benefit if you close the eyes as much as possible. The classes are suitable for different levels of experience and mobility through more/less testing variations and longer/shorter holding of postures.
The 90-minute practice class consists of:
  • introductory mantras (brief)
  • pranayama (breathing exercises)
  • surya namaskar (sun salutation)
  • asana (yoga postures) which are held
  • yoga nidra (guided deep relaxation lying down)
  • concluding mantras (brief)
